What do speech therapists work on?

    Articulation/Speech Sounds

We help children learn to say sounds clearly so others can understand them. Therapy focuses on teaching correct mouth movements for each sound.

    Language (Expressive and Receptive)

We work on understanding words, sentences, and directions (receptive) and using language to express thoughts, ideas, and feelings (expressive).

    Social Communication / Pragmatics

We teach children how to use language appropriately with others—like taking turns, starting conversations, staying on topic, and understanding body language.

    Fluency (Stuttering)

We support children in developing smooth, easy speech by using strategies to manage repetitions, blocks, or tension during talking.

    Voice

We help children use their voices in a healthy way—working on pitch, loudness, and quality so speaking feels comfortable and sounds clear.

    Feeding / Oral Motor Skills

We assist children who have trouble chewing, swallowing, or managing different food textures by strengthening the muscles used for eating and speech.

    Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

We support children who need extra help communicating by using tools like picture boards, speech devices, or sign language to express themselves.
